Gush Collaboration Project

Four dudes who like coloring on Magic cards — Travis (tromps), Tony (tonywok), Aaron (shertie), and Al (meseeks) — came together for a collaboration project unlike any other: a playset of the iconic Gush, with each copy divided into four sections — an “X,” a “+,” rows, and finally, a complete free-for-all.

Each artist started one card, then mailed it to the next person in line until all four participants had worked on every copy.

The finished pieces — along with the intermediate stages — are documented below.

The completed set will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Aaron: It was an honor to be a part of this collaboration. Honestly. It challenged me as an “artist” and made me step out of my box. To try new things that I didnt I would be capable of doing. Thanks for letting me be a part of this. You guys are awesome. :people_hugging:

Al: For me, the opportunity to be a part of this little project was great for my mental health and I am looking forward to the next one. We hope this inspires more of the same kind of community collaborations in the future. :beers:

Tony: Something beautiful slowing down the already slow process of altering with the snail mail and watching the different variants develop incrementally and in directions that couldn’t have been predicted at the start. Such a fun project to be a part of :metal:

Travis: This project was a lot of fun. I found the challenge of building on and responding to each other’s work interesting and rewarding. Things like this is what makes PM [sic: the Premodern Magic: the Gathering format] different.
